"Stupid, stupid, stupid! I didn’t mean to kill anybody.” Ernie punched the wall. “I just wanted him to give me the money. Somebody must have found the body by now,” he said. “I wish I could go back and change things!” He turned and saw a little man following him. “Go away! I got problems of my own.”

“I heard you make a wish. I know what you wish,” said the man. “You killed that poor old guy in the store. You want to change that. I can help you with that,”

         “Go away.”

“Not so fast. You see this watch? It can do things. You can take this watch and set it at any time in the last twenty four hours and it will be that time. Then you have the next five minutes for a do over.”

         “You think I’m stupid?”

“Well, yes you are, but no matter. Look let me show you.” He fiddled with the watch and suddenly the street was dark and empty, Ernie looked at the watch. It said three o’clock.

         “Believe me now?”

“You will let me use your watch?”

“I’ll sell it to you. You got fifty from that store after you killed that old man. So gimme that and the watch is yours.”

Ernie stood looking at his new watch. “This isn’t going to work,” he said under his breath. “It was half past eight when I went in there.” he carefully set the watch and waited.

The scene changed. The body was on the floor and the gun was in his hand. The place was full of cops. That was when he realized his mistake. It must have been more like quarter past. Damn!

          Murray, the cop cuffed him.
