Persian:  Aaftab az roo e o shud dar hijab
              Saya ra bashad hijab az aaftab
Urdu:      Yun huwa mehrukh say mahr ander hijab
              Saya ho jis tarheh paesh e aaftab
       
English=== Oh, hides the sun from my brilliant moon
                  Like the shadow does from the sun at noon
                                                  -

Persian:  Dast e mah o mahr barbandad ba husn
              Mah e ba mehram chun barbandad naqab
Urdu:      Dast basta ho giay haen mah o mahr
              Jab meh e baymehr nay kholi naqab

English:=== My heartless moon, when she drops her veil
                  The stars and planets look dim and pale
                                                    -

Persian:  Az khayalam baz nashnashad kasay
              Gar dar aaghoshash babeenam shab bakhab
Urdr:        Mehv aisa houn keh ban jaoun khayal
              Ger usay aaghosh maen loen maen bakhab

English:=== And I am so awed by her beauty and grace
                  That her in my dream I'm afraid to embrace
                                                    -

Persian:  Shahidan mastoor o mastan bayshakaeb
              Khanqah maamoor o durwaishan kharab
Urdu:      Shahidan mastoor o mastan bayshakaeb
              Khanqah maamoor o durwaishan kharab

English:=== What a lovely beauty and her ugly veil
                  What a hapless lover and his dreadful wail
                                                    -

Persian:  Khun e dil dar jam deedam az saraarshk
              Aabroo barbad dadam az sharab
Urdu:      Khun e dil say qurmuzi banti hay may
              Aabroo barbad kerti hay sharab

English:=== And when I drink the ruby wine
                  I drink not wine but the tears of mine
                                                      -

Persian:  Az baraay baada mebayad zadan
              Mohtasib ra hud e bayhad o hisab
Urdu:      Woh keray tehreem baday ki agar
              Maro koeray mohtasib ko bayhisab

English;=== But there is no liquor, in this terrible city
                  They say it's forbidden; oh, what a pity!
                                                      -

Persian:  Soz e mastan gar badanad mohtasib
              Dar dam az may shan zanad bar aatish aab
Urdu:      Soz e mastan jan lay ger mohtasib
              Chhirkay baada,lay kay woh,aatish peh aab

English:=== If only he could see a heart on fire
                  The censor will soften, and surely retire
                                                      -

Persian:  Har kera az deeda shud baran e aashk
              Zaer e daman baad darad chu sahaab
Urdu:      Chshm e aashiq maen nihan haen aashk yun
              Jaisay barish ho chhupie ander sahaab

English:=== For the fire of love, after years and years
                  You can't put out by shedding tears
                                                      -

Persian:  HAFIZA waaz o naseehat goo makun
              Tark e turkan e khata nabwad sawaab
Urdu:      Suniay HAFIZ baat waaiz ki na kuchh
              Tark e mashooqan naheen kaar e sawaab

English:=== And don't say, HAFIZ, that love is bad
                  It's simply divine, but yes, it's sad
