The Amateur
This is about being criticized as a writer. I hope you see the purpose for the quotations.

This item requires reviews with ratings.
I've read the final letter
simply entitled "Amateur".
I "should not be named writer",
and of "this crime" they must assure.

My "words disgrace poetry"
as one whose "mind is obsolete".
My "work is free from meaning",
its given purpose "incomplete".

My work is "missing structure",
I've "defied the laws of meter";
its "unacceptable form"
"needs to be" far much "more neater".

My words are "lacking purpose",
because my soul has "no real worth".
My heart's matters "know not truth",
to speak of anguish or of mirth.

I am "not worthy" to stand
among "the gifted" that proclaim:
"there is none as great as I".
Now I challenge you to that claim.
