                                            Ghazal 28


Persian:  Chun khahi burd roozay aaqibat in jan e maftoun ra
              Keh az gahay ba man banmaie baray sun e baychun ra
Urdu:      Agar mehsher maen chahay bakhshna jan mujh say maftoun ko
              Lahad per aa meri lay ker too apni sun e baychun ko

English:=== On the Day of judgment I 'll not rise
                  Unless you came in an angel's guise
                                                  -

Persian:  Nakhaham dad darban e tura behr e daroom zahmat
              Pasand ast an keh bosam geh gahay divar e bairoon ra
Urdu:      Na doun ga maen teray darban ko behr e daroon zehmat
              Mujhay kafi hay bosa daena ik divar e bairoon ko

English:=== And I won't bother your palace guard
                  Kissing the gate will be my reward
                                                  -

Persian:  Dil e man nama e dard ast o khoun e dida unwanash
              Bus az ghammazi e unwan, baroon bar haal e mazmoun ra
Urdu:      Mera dil nama e dard aur unwan khoun kay aansoo
              Karay ghammazi e unwan hay bairoon haal e mazmoun ko

English:=== But I can't help if my tears of blood
                  Reveal my secrets by causing a flood
                                                    -

Persian:  Shab aamad rooz e aisham ra wa man ba sokhtajani
              Hamijooyam chiragh afrookhta an rooz e maimoon ra
Urdu:      Gaya ik roz e ishrat, shab hooie toe dhoundhta houn maen
              Chiragh e sokhta jan lay kay apni, roz e maimoun ko

English;=== At night when I think of my day with you
                  My flaming heart gives me the cue
                                                    -

Persian:  Na shabha e man e badrooz insaanast baypayan
              Walay ya Rab mabada rooz e naek an zulf e shabgoon ra
Urdu:      Shab e furqat maen din aata neheen jubkeh nazar mujh ko
              Dikha mat din nikalta bhee too ya Rab zulf e shabgoon ko

English:=== In the dark of night when you aren't there
                  I can't help thinking of the black curly hair
                                                    -

Persian:  To an murghay keh aazadi o dar damay nayaftadi
              Sazad gar shukr gooie rooz o shab bakht e humayoon ra
Urdu:        Bachaya daam say hay aur di hay tujh ko aazadi
                Hay kum jitna bhee day too shukr maen bakht e humayoon ko

English;=== And when I discover that I'm not free
                  I thank my stars; I am filled with glee
                                                        -

Persian:  Chun Laila beenad an Majnoun sharab az khoun e khud naushad
              Beh az sang e sitamgaran nabashad nuql Majnoun ra
Urdu:      Naheen hay khoo hi peenay ki sharaab e khoun, aey Laila
              Na kum hay nuql say sang e sitamgaran bhee Majnoun ko

English:=== I do not mind my bleeding heart
                  What is hard to take is my rival's dart
                                                        -

Persian:  Hama kas fitna shud bar gufta e KHUSRO magar chashmat
              Asar bar jadoonan hergiz nabashad sehr o afsoon ra
Urdu:      Karay jadoo hay sub per gufta e KHUSRO magar hay kuchh
              Asar chashm e purafsoon per na taeri, us kay afsoon ko

English:=== With words, O KHUSRO, you can bind a spell
                  But charming a charmer, you can't do well
