                                            Ghazal 24


Persian:  Baroo ba kar e khud aey waiz ,in cheh faryaad ast
              Mara fitada dil az cuff, tura cheh uftaad ast
Urdu:      Lag apni rah too waiz, karay hay kun fayyaad
              Hay dil fitada mera, tujh pa kya pari uftaad

English:=== Leave me, O preacher, and let it all be
                  The problem is mine; so leave it to me
                                                  -

Persian:  Ba kaam ta narasanad mara labash chu nai
              Naseehat e hama aalam ba gosh e man baad ast
Urdu:      Milaen na nai ki tarheh jab talak laboun say wo lab
              Jahan bhar ki naseehat hay baad, baybunyaad 

English:=== The cure of my pain is there in her lips
                  So the counsel of yours is no good to me
                                                    -

Persian:  Mian e o keh Khuda aafrida ast az heech
              Daqeeqa eest keh heech aafrida nakshaad ast
Urdu:      Wo taeri parli kamar jo keh hay, naheen bhee hay
              Daqeeqa hay jo keh hota naheen kisie say kushaad
                                                     
English:=== From naught to naught it has come to be
                  Her waist is so fine no one can see
                                                    -

Persian:  Gada e koo e to az hasht khuld mustaghniest
              Aseer e band e to az her do aalam azaad ast
Urdu:      Faqir e koocha tera bayniaz e khud bareen
              Aseer e band tera do jahan maen hay azaad

English:=== A slave of her beauty cares not for Eden
                  Her captive of love is truly free
                                                    -

Persian:  Agar cheh hasti e ishqam kharab kard walay
              Asaas e hasti e man zin kharaababad ast
Urdu:      Agar cheh masti e ulfat kharaab kerti hay
              Isie kharabi say hotay haen jan o dil abaad

English:=== My life is empty without her grace
                  Wherever I look, there always is she
                                                    -

Persian:  Dila manaal zay baedad e joer e yaar keh yaar
              Tura naseeb hameen karda ast o in daad ast
Urdu:      Naheen shikayat joer o itab ker aey dil
              Naseeb maen teray likhkhi hay yaar ki baydaad

English:=== If cruel she is, cry not, O heart
                  Surrender your will; it's God's decree
                                                  -

Persian:  Faraeb e ishwa e husn az jahan e peer  makhur
              Keh her keh kard boo e ikhtilat nashaad ast
Urdu:      Faraeb e ishwa e husn e jahan e peer na kha
              Keh is say jis nay kya ikhtilat hay nashaad

English:=== Don't be deceived; this world is a witch
                  She is a siren of deep blue sea
                                                    -

Persian:  Baroo malamat e durdi kashan makun naseh
              Keh rizq o qismat e razzaq e ma hameen daad ast
Urdu;      Na ker malamat e durdi kashan too aey naseh
              Yahi hay rizq hamara, yahi Khuda ki daad

English:=== Scorn not, O preacher, our drunken ways
                  It's the will of God beyond you and me
                                              -

Persian:  Baroo fasana makhan o fasoon madam HAFIZ
              Kaz in fasana o afsoon mara basay yaad ast
Urdu:      Na ker fasoon o fasanay ki baat aey HAFIZ
              Keh haen fasana o afsoon hazar mujh ko yaad

English:=== And don't give us, HAFIZ, your wild talk
                  Your stories drive us all up the tree
