Darkness is not my enemy,
many times it has been my friend. It is a soothing, enveloping feeling that can comfort you to the very end. In the bright and sunny day, you see, everything belongs to reality. Yet when the lights go out, I can feel you near, though only in my dreams of fantasy. You touch my face so lightly in these dreams that shivers run up and down my spine. A tender smile, a gentle touch, and, hesitantly, I take your hand in mine. All around me there is this warmth, that I've never felt before. It robs me of my senses..... gone is the ceiling... the walls... the floor. In this disorienting darkness and warmth there is no fear or fright. Rather a feeling of safety, of love, that I wish could last beyond the night. The light of day enters through my window, and I remember, as I open my eyes, The look of your face and the feel of your touch, in the back of my mind, while in reality, I turn and face the bright, blue skies.
