Hope

What confusion inside my heart does feel
I can’t discern if it’s real or simply just zeal.
Will it last forever? Or fleet like a so-so kiss
A kiss, brief, is at times replete with bliss.

My mind nudges me “go”; let go of the past
Dwell not on heartache; learn lessons, at last.
Time’s a healer; if it does come to pass
Stretches one’s limits; it does truly surpass.

But my heart also pleads with me, “don’t go”
More to a truth than at first it evidently shows
We grow in time, learning loving and living
Not just about self; requiring some forgiving.

Our essence is fragile, yet very much willing
Risk at times for one, seemingly undeserving.
And ponder which prevails? Mind or heart?
All that remains, shattered pieces and parts.

Life’s beauty is seen in our desire to go on
Though adversity strikes we eventually see dawn
Ashes we came from and ashes do we return.
Hope allows us to weather, endure and learn.
