BEING ACERBIC
Must we be acerbic to Those whom we do not like? Must others’ ambitions, we, Shamelessly always spike? First a prez is invited For what’s a guest lecture. Then he’s humiliated With vilest of gesture. The university is Outdone by the nation, Displaying boorish manners By visa negation. The President of Iran Was not a fugitive. Denial of visa was Certainly negative. He was representative Of Iran at UN. God only knows why US Saw him with suspicion. From acerbic attitude, United States suffers. With malicious arrogance It glances at others. • Written in abcb, 7-6-7-6 format. * Written for “The Watchword Challenge” contest, "Invalid Item" * The President of Iran had to attend a UN meeting. USA first denied visa to him, then, with great reluctance, issued one. A well known university in NewYork invited him for a lecture, where the President / Chairman of the university publicly humiliated him against all norms of decency. M C Gupta 3 November 2007
