The leaves have donned an auburn hue
cooled air beckons rest, renew Leaves soon flail, chill lumbers on splashed like artwork on autumns lawn These are the times that bring me to pumpkin patches, baked goods, stew Apple picking, cider mills patchwork quilts upon the hills Smoking chimney's, baled hay maze longer nights, shorter days Change is what the earth goes through frost in air, sky's leaden hue We'll rise and shine before the sun now that lazy summer's done Tinged with mourning, we meet the dawn 'til solstice shifts and winter's gone © Tamryn Nieves - 2007
