Chapter 2: Memories
2 years later…
Flash!
“Hey! Alex! Ben! Get out of that thing and pay attention to me!”
My brother and I were playing with our latest creation: the adult-repel machine. A primitive cardboard box, with dribble and chewed-up bubblegum covered on the outside. Very useful when adults are trying to catch you. Just close the box, and presto! For some weird reason, no adult will touch the box and you’re safe inside it. A perfect place for fun and games! My brother, Ben, came to the foster home, like my mother promised. He was 2 years younger than me, and acted like he was dumb and mute in front of adults. But I knew better. Like me, he had a vocabulary already of an average 9th Grader.
Flash!
My brother and I were sparring with long, thin wooden spoons. Clash! I parried his blow. Clash! He parried mine. Clash! Our spoon-swords clashed together while we both attacked. Clash! Clash! Clash! Clash! We attack and block each other for hours. Finally, I knock my brother, Ben’s spoon-sword out of his hand. I’ve won! But this is just one of the many battles we have.
Flash!
We are now acting in front of parents, shouting some partial words, while pretending to be having a big effort on trying to walk. They are catching on now. We will not be able to act like normal kids for long.
Flash!
All of the cookies… gone… my brother ate them all.
Flash!
Sparring again…
Flash!
Playing with toy cars, then trying to build one. Doesn’t work but give me an idea…
Memories.

CHAPTER 3 KRAZY
3 years later…
My brother is smart but dumb. It’s so annoying. One moment he’s smart, the other he’s stupider than a wooden cow. Weird. Well, my brother and I, we have an idea. If we were found on the doorstep as babies, where were we born? Maybe we can create a kid using chemicals and stuff. So we decided to make our own kid by “winging it.”
“Lets see. A bit of this- it looks cool, with the skull and crossbones, like death. Some of that- little pretty white balls, scare away moths. And-“
“Hey! Alex! Come over here to do your lesson!”
“Aw, man! I guess I’ll have to wait for later to finish. Don’t touch anything, Ben O.K?”
“Mhmm.” He was very absentminded. I should have known then, but no.
What happens next my brother told me later.
“Let’s see. Put in a toy boat, to float on water, some ice…”
The contents of this basin swirled around. And I came back.
“Did you do anything, Ben?”
“No.” My brother says innocently.
“Okay. Now, put in the oven, and bake at 360 degrees for 2 hours.”
I put the basin in the oven. After two hours, we checked on the basin. It was alive. I took it out. A small baby was inside! And he was growing rapidly. He was already 2 years old. But he stopped growing. Big disappointment.
“I now name thee James!”
“Bananananananas! Laa Laa Laa dee Laa, hair is green, Laa de daa.”
“I now name thee James Crazy Boy!” This guy was Crazy. I mean Krazy Crazy.
“Okay, Ben what did you do?”
And he told me. So our new teammate is born: Krazy Boy James!
