The Unbalancing
A descriptive piece on the imagery of feelings.

Wandering aimlessly through the featureless world
on feet which forget the feel of tender grass
a squeamish disturbance of the air  around me
produces tiny bubbles of vacuums
which eat away at my lifeless eyes
until the uncaring air claims my mind
hands which used to caress the sunlight
now hang limply

In another time it had all slowly faded
the colours draining from the world
like blood inevitably leaving a hanging carcass
sounds becoming muted, dull
emotion being strangled until it disappeared
I screamed over and over, but they too were swallowed up by an echoless void

Knowing that this was the end of all that had provided balance
leaving me with the spreading darkness but without the light
the gentle light which illuminated the invisible line which the universe straddled

With voiceless screams that ripped my heart out and threw it,
even as the beats slowed and weakened,
into the dying world
with stumbling steps I grasped futilely at my vanishing memories
my life passing between my trembling fingers
