WEARY WARRIOR
Born a patriot, This man so young and bold; He will one day test you And you shall come forth as gold. Taking that brave step and raising his right hand; he volunteered, he asked to go to protect our sovereign land. They ask, ‘How could you leave her, your woman and this child?’; protecting what you have And loving them all the while. Leaving home once again, it is time for you to go. In your eyes it is clear that you love her, But she already knows. As you walk out the door, There’s time for one last kiss. Willing to lay it all down, Greater love hath no man than this. Bullets ripping past you, your Little Bird in the air; Held in God’s palm Guiding you through in His infinite care. Loving your nation and those you do not know; you do not look back now for it is time to go. And the Lord said, will go for us? and whom shall I send? Willing to face the unknown, And bear wounds that will not mend. I am always with you in spirit For I have borne the battle with you. I can see it in your eyes, …a weary warrior my friend, that is you.
