Perched
alone, shivering in the doorway. Hours and people pass him blindly, drooling on 'bout tomorrow’s gifts, meals and endless delights. He summons his own scarce mental gems; they warm his mind, but shield not from final frozen slumber. *Writers group exercise: 10 lines, corresponding syllables to the line number. Eg. Line 1, 1 syllable, Line 2, 2 syllables etc. Must be a holiday theme.
