English & Urdu Translation of Hafiz 30

                                            Ghazal 30


Persian:  Didi keh yaar juz sar e jour o sitam nadasht
              Bashkist ahd e ma o az oo heetch gham nadasht
Urdu:      Us sang dil ka kaam sivaay sitam naheen
              Waday ko toarnay maen kisi say bhee kum naheen

English:=== With a stony heart and the cruel eyes
                  Oh, how her lovers she crucifies
                                                    -

Persian:  Ya Rab mageerad ar cheh dil e chu kabootaram
              Afgand o kusht o hurmat e sayd e haram nadasht
Urdu:      Zakhmi kiya hay kaesa kabooter samajh kay dil
              Us ko zara bhee hurmat e sayd e haram naheen

English:=== She has no pity for the wounded heart
                  It cries and cries until it dies
                                                        -

Persian:  Bar man jafa zay bakht e bad aamad wagerna yaar
              Hasha keh rasm e jour o tareeq e sitam nadasht
Urdu:      Qismat maen haen hamari jafaen wagerna wo
              Rakhta rasoom e jour o tareeq e sitam naheen

English:=== And when I protest the penance I get
                  By blaming it on fate she justifies

Persian:  Dil in hama jafa keh ba khari kasheed az oo
              Her ja keh raft, heech kasash mohteram nadasht
Urdu:      Ruswa kya hay ishq nay kuchh dil ko is terheh
              Rindoun ki bazm maen bhee wo kuchh mohtaram naheen

English:=== Notorious so much have I become
                  Not even a drunkard on me relies

Persian:  Saqi biyar baada o ba muddayi bagoo
              Inkaar e ma makun keh chunin jaam e Jam nadasht
Urdu:      Saqi sharaab day mujhay, mat day raqeeb ko
              Daekh is kay pas mujh sa koie jaam e Jam naheen

English:=== So much respect have I lost that to me
                  A drink on credit the barman denies

Persian:  Her rehraway keh reh ba hareem daarash naburd
              Miskeen bureed wadi o reh dar haram nadasht
Urdu:      Kerta naheen tawaf jo taeray hareem ka
              Jangal hay us ki rah maen, rah e haram naheen

English:=== A mystic who pays not homage to her
                  For going to Mecca he not qualifies
                                                          -

Persian:  Khush waqt rind e mast keh dunya o aakhirat
              Berbaad daad o heech az o baesh o kam nadasht
Urdu:      Khush waqt hay wo rind jisay do jahan maen
              Berbaadian qabul, gham e baesh o kum naheen

English:=== And blessed is lover who suffers and suffers
                  And comforts of life to himself denies
                                                          -

Persian:  HAFIZ babar to goo e fasaahat keh muddaie
              Heechash hunar nabood o khabar neez ham nadasht
Urdu:      HAFIZ taeray bayan ki fasaahat ko daekh ker
              Hota hay dushmanoun ko teray rashk kum naheen
