FAMILY TIES: a sonnet
Oh, the good old family that I knew! About half a century has now passed. Of those I knew are left only a few. A host of memories I have amassed. Oh, the memories of those who’re no more, Who once were the lighthouses and pillars! As I watched from the safety of the shore, They fought the seas, and the mighty rivers. The lessons that I learnt while watching them, The do’s and don’ts I picked along the way, Are now the familial traits and emblem, That guide my own behavior to this day. Lack of family does the life cripple. Without it we quit without a ripple. • A related sonnet: FAMILY OR LIVE IN?-- a sonnet: "FAMILY OR LIVE IN?-- a sonnet. " M C Gupta 10 November 2007
