The chaos of my life and dreams
Withheld me from the mark, And I struggled for survival In a world that’s always dark. “So do we all,” you said - Wasn’t good enough for me For one either drowns or sails Upon life’s stormy seas. From high above the cutting reefs Came the seafaring call, “Come! Set your sail afloat, Come rise above it all.” “Oh, God,” I cried, “please hear my prayer, From the depths of heart and soul. Whatever it takes, I yearn to sail Where the balmy breezes blow.” Prayers from the heart don’t go unheard, And had I but known the pain I’d not have scraped the jagged reefs, And dyed the sea crimson stain. Through salty waters stinging My lacerated flesh, Through currents forged against me My soul cried out for rest. But the briny waters sealed my wounds, As the currents flushed my sins, And my soul became far stronger As from descent I did ascend. I embarked the once elusive wave, That glittered with sun and moon, And the winds set me on a course, From the me that I once knew.
