As I walked
Along the streets of Mexico
There were things
To see, oh yes to see
But yet one
That struck out
Against the streets of Mexico
Was of a boy
And his little puppy
It was cold
Along the streets of Mexico
Moonless night
‘Cept those of the city
Standing bright
They would shine
Against the streets of Mexico
To show a boy
And his little puppy
There they lay
Along the streets of Mexico
All alone
For all and one to see
Yet not one
Would stand up
Against the streets of Mexico
To save a boy
And his little puppy
So I stood
Along the streets of Mexico
Full of tears
From what I had just seen
There they stood
As two souls
Against the streets of Mexico
A little boy
And his little puppy.
Lord I pray
Along the streets of Mexico
Give me strength
To be the man he sees
And I will
Protect him
Against the streets of Mexico
That little boy
And his little puppy
So we walked
Along the streets of Mexico
To a home
To be a family
Just us three
We struggle
Against the streets of Mexico
My little boy
And his little puppy
