Gold Medal Man
A poem about my Daddy who passed away Oct. 25, 2004 from brain cancer.

He was a hero
The kind left unsung
He never got a medal
That around his neck was hung

But he was a hero
Proved it day by day
That’s why it hurt so much
When he could no longer stay

He bandaged every scrape
And dried every tear
There’s no one now to do that
Since he’s no longer here

He taught me how to do things
I did not understand
If I was scared of something
I could always hold his hand

He was a gold medal winner
At least he was in my heart
My Daddy did so many things
I wouldn’t know where to start
