You’re the kindred that was meant
to take my heart and break it.
You’re the one that left me wanting
without me ever knowing what I want.
I’ve watched you make the steps you take
and willingly help you along the way.
You’re the seed shoved in my soul.
The weed I beg to never let go.
I kiss the cheek of the wandering moon
as you dance beyond grasp, a dream from me.
So many others have “known” you, too.
What am I but another love-struck whore?
I nurture the unwelcome blossom within,
though I care too much to hold you too close.
Your journeys, your conquests burn in my mind
but like a good friend, I’ll stick by your side.
