English & Urdu Translation of Hafiz 43

                                            Ghazal 43


Persian:  Kunon keh dar kuff e gul jaam e baada e saaf ast
              Ba sad hazaar zaban bulbulash dar ausaaf ast
Urdu:      Hay jab keh aaj kuff e gul maen jaam e baada e saaf
              Ba sad Hazaar zaban gaay andaleeb ausaaf

English:=== With flowers holding the cups of wine
                  The birds are happy, and the bees are fine
                                                    -

Persian:  Ba khah daftar e ashaar o roo be sahra kun
              Cheh waqt e madrassa o behs e kashf o kashshaaf ast
Urdu:      Chal apna daftar e ashaar lay kay sahra maen
              Naheen hat taeray liay behs e kashif o kashshaaf

English:=== Let's go to the park with a book of verse
                  Let the thinkers alone, and let them converse
                                                      -

Persian:  Faqeeh e madrassa di mast bood o fatwa dad
              Keh may haraam walay beh zay maal e auqaaf ast
Urdu:      Dia hay jhoom kay fatwa yeh aaj mufti nay
              Naheen sharaab say behtar yeh doulat e auqaaf

English:=== For the ruler of city has just announced
                  That dancing and drinking can't be denounced
                                                        -

Persian:  Ba durd o saaf tura hukm neest, dam darkash
              Keh her cheh saqi e ma raekht, aen altaaf ast
Urdu:      Na durd o saaf ki saqi say kuchh shikayat ker
              Wo jo bhee jaam maen dalay, haen us kay aen altaaf

English:=== Whatever is given you take and keep
                  And drink the wine, expensive or cheap
                                                        -

Persian:  Babar zay khalq o zay unqa qayaas e kaar bageer 
              Keh sait e goshanasheenan zay qaaf ta qaaf ast
Urdu:      Kinaara khalq say ker, lay sabaq too unqa say
              Keh goshageeroun ka churcha hay qaaf say ta qaaf

English:=== With struggle and strife you make a truce
                  Renounce the world, and be a recluse
                                                        -

Persian:  Hadees e muddaiyan o khayal e hamkaaran
              Haman hikayat e zardoz o boryabaaf ast
Urdu:      Hadees e muddaiyan o khayal e hamkaaran
              Haen yeh hikayat zardoz o zikr e boryabaaf

English:=== And don't you worry about friends and foes
                  Just say good bye to the world of woes
                                                    -

Persian:  Khamosh HAFIZ o in nuktaha e chun zaar e surkh
              Nigahdar keh qullaab e shehr saraaf ast
Urdu:      Yeh nuktaha e zar e surkh haen, chhupa HAFIZ
              Keh haen faraebi o makkar sheh kay sarraaf

English:=== And though it's true, for the sake of God
                  Say not ,O HAFIZ, our sheik is a fraud
