Tears that I cry...

Tears that I cry,
meaningless, can they have no effect?
Tears that I cry,
find, a balm to heal my pain, try
powerless, is life still perfect?
death stabs, hearts that will not connect
Tears that I cry.

Tears that I cry,
witnessed, an olive-branch succumb,
Tears that I cry
won't heal death's wounds though eyes might dry
won't engage in play fingers gone numb,
bring back my child, or songs he'd hum,
Tears that I cry.
