FALL TRANSITIONING TO WINTER: an acrostic
Far away the icy winds Announce their arrival. Leaves that were once green, now gold, Lie scattered on the ground. Twisted, curled and dried they lie, Royally once they waved. And, yet, they have served a cause, No better way to die. Slowly as winter creeps in, Inwards the people draw. Those summer winds are now gone. Instead, the chill is in. Open the window and now, No welcome breeze is there. Inside, the home feels cosy. No loitering outside. Gone are the sultry evenings. Transition is on way. Only a few weeks later, Winter will be the king. In comes the Christmas season. No efforts are now spared. To announce Christmas tidings, Everyone is happy. Royal season is in! • An acrostic around the words: Fall Transitioning to Winter. Written in 7-6-7-6 format. * Written for “Those Poems Contest”, "Invalid Item" • Related poems: "WINTER’S WRATH" "AN ODE TO WINTER" M C Gupta 2 December 2007
