ONE SIDED LOVE: a sonnet
In a crazy moment I long ago, Fell deep in love with a beautiful girl. Whenever a glance at me did she throw, In heady love my heart did truly swirl. My eyes followed her till the very end, My feet traced every inch that she did walk. Yet outwardly I did always pretend, As if at the name of love I did balk. But my dream was one day truly shattered, When I found her by side of another. I had myself in vain shyness flattered, That my own love would also afflict her. Too late I did this simple lesson learn: If we don’t throw a ball it can’t return. • Also featured as entry 373378 in the book "LOVE POEMS" M C Gupta 5 October 2005
