Love blossoms in every life, however brief.
Each layer holds a new gift: satin moons parted with trembling hands release whispers of fragrance to tendril gently ‘round the trellis of your soul. Drink deep of the scent, my blessed one. Dance beneath petal showers in summer’s velvet shade; hum reverent odes into silken folds as hearts flower. Know that sickness and health and life and death have other plans. For Nature will bring night, and storm, and autumns’ chill to steal love’s blush. As hearts fade, Sink into grief's healing rain, my beautiful son. Chant your mourning song to winter’s fragile radiance. Burrow in earth’s crocheted cocoon awaiting light’s return. However brief, life blooms in every love. Each spring, strong hands caress silten mounds. As fresh tendrils Stretch wistful for the trellis your soul captures the gift: the fragrant essence of a budding heart. ![]() For Johnathen, inspired by Bette Midler’s “The Rose” (My first non-rhyming poem. Advice and critique sought.)
