MYSTERY MOUNTAIN

High on the mountain the secrets of life reveal
that faith and trust in the one who walked there
long ago, who felt the suffering of mankind and
was so deeply troubled by the world of care.
The answers are there that we need to find.
We have only to walk in His footsteps.

The mists clear as we seek to understand
the ever-healing power of His creation.
High on the mountain there is no mystery
that He cannot answer, no pain that can not
clear away the debris of a lost soul.
We have only to walk in His footsteps.

For those who choose to turn away from Him,
the pathway to the mountain is very steep.
Thorns and brambles cut into our hearts as we
try to unravel the mysteries of existence.
The power of the mountain remains stronger
than our will to survive, we stumble and fall.
We have only to walk in His footsteps.

I have been at the foot of the mountain, searching.
I have climbed through thorns and brambles,
struggling to reach the top, heartsore and bleeding.
Through the darkness I see a clearing, light ahead,
and there at the top of the mountain of mystery
I come face to face with a forgiving, loving God.
I had only to walk in His footsteps.
