I do remember when it mattered most.
It seems so long ago. Yet, now my life
Is simply set to permanently coast.
I'm apathetic to all glee and strife.
One stupid, stupid, very drunk driver
Smashed everything I cared for straight to hell
And left me as the only survivor.
All gone: my kids, my oh so sweet Danielle.
They were my life. They were my very soul.
So now I drink away the settlement
and hope the hooch will fill the hollow hole.
I want only to escape the present.
My current life is only tantamount
To a bookkeeper's empty bank account.
