Free Verse

Your words sting,
the long-forgotten ones
unerased on my phone.
Your voice, melodic
and tinny over the machine,
so sincere, so
genuine.
So unlike you,
who you really are.
Your voice is a slap,
a raw handprint on my face,
the fingers tight
and hard,
the mark, your stain.
