A still-unfinished, rhyming poem, but I haven't felt the right way to end it.

[unfinished]

I wake up every morning
and I see you lying there.
I still feel your fingers
reaching, falling through my hair.
I can't forget your number
'cause I've got it memorized.
I'm trying to erase these things,
they're stuck behind my eyes.

I can listen to your voice
like it's right behind my ear;
sometimes I talk about you
like you haven't left me here.
I can smell your body;
the scent's locked in my clothes.
I try to fake a smile
so the heartbreak never shows.

You know that I connect to you
in ways that she cannot;
I know that you saw something there
and that I meant a lot
