                                            Ghazal 68


Persian:  Khush aamad gul waz an khushtar nabaashad
              Keh dar dastat bajuz saaghar nabaashad
Urdu:      Fiza e fasl e gul behtar naheen hay
              Jo hathoun maen teray saaghar naheen hay

English:=== The spring has come, and the flowers are here
                  Let's fill our cups with wine, my dear
                                                -

Persain:  Zamaan e khushdili daryaab, daryaab
              Keh dayam dar sadaf gohar nabaashad
Urdu:      Zamaan e aesh hathoun hath laina
              Keh dayam dar sadaf gohar naheen hay

English:    And sing and dance, and let's be merry
                For the pleasures of life are so temporary
                                                  -

Persian:  Ghaneemat daan o may khur dar gulistan
              Keh gul ta hafta e deegar nabashad
Urdu:      Ghaneemat jaan aur pee may chaman maen
              Keh gul ta hafta e deegar naheen hay

English:=== Let's all to the garden presently go
                  Lest the lovely flowers lose their glow
                                                  -

Persian:  Ajab raheest rah e ishq kan ja
              Kasay sar bar kunad kash sar nabaashad
Urdu:      Reh e ulfat ajab hay rah jis maen
              Wo bala sar hay jis ka sar naheen hay

English:=== It's time for love; so let's not wait
                  Let's lose our heads, and celebrate
                                                  -

Persian:  Basho auraaq agar hamdars e maie
              Keh Ilm e ishq dar daftar nabaashad
Urdu:      Kitabaen phaenk, ban hamdars maera
              Keh ilm e ishq dar daftar naheen hay

English:=== And love is there wherever you look
                  It isn't something you find in a book

Persian:  Zay man banyoosh o dil dar shahiday band
              Keh husnash basta e zaewar nabaashad
Urdu:      Day zaewar jaan o dil ka us haseen ko 
              Jisay kuchh haajit e zaewar naheen hay

English:=== So listen to me, and do not wait
                  And find a charming, beautiful mate

Persian:  Bia aey sheikh dar khumkhaana e ma
              Sharaabay khur keh dar kosar nabaashad
Urdu:      Peeo aey sheikh khumkaanay maen maeray
              Wo baada jo keh dar kosar naheen hay

English:=== Of hell and heaven, O sheik, not think
                  Let's go to the bar, and let's have a drink

Persian:  Aeya pur lal karda jaam e zarreen
              Babukhsha bar kasay kash zar nabaashad
Urdu:      Meray saaqi mujhay bhee lal e baada
              Jo maeray pas jaam e zar naheen hay

English:=== In taven, my friend, there is wine galore
                  So let's be generous, and give it to the poor

Persian:  Sharaab e baykhumaaram bakhsh saaqi
              Keh baa o heech dard e sar nabaashad
Urdu:      Hamaen bakhshi hay may saaqi nay aisie
              Hay jis maen kaif, dard e sar naheen hay

English:=== Oh, give me the wine that drowns my sorrow
                  Without the headache later next morrow

Persian:  Banaam Erad, butay seemeen tanam hast
              Keh dar butkhaana e Azar nabaashad
Urdu:      Yeh maera seemtan but, but hay aisa
              Keh dar butkhaana e Azar naheen hay

English:=== My girl's so lovely, so pretty, so fair
                  That with her no idol can you compare

Persian:  Man az jaan banda e sultan Aveesam
              Agarcheh yaadash az chakar nabaashad
Urdu:      Houn dil say banda e sultan Avees ik
              Unhaen go yaad yeh chakar naheen hay

English:=== Of sultan Avees, the mighty, the brave
                  I wish I could become a humble slave

Persian:  Ba taaj e aalamaarayash keh khursheed
              Chunin zaebinda e afsar nabaashad
Urdu:      Wo taaj e aalan aara jis kay aagay
              Yeh suraj laiq e afsar naheen hay

English:=== So bright and shiny are jewels of his crown
                  That when it sees it the sun turns brown

Persian:  Kasay geerad khata dar nazm e HAFIZ
              Keh heechash lutf dar gohar nabaashad
Urdu:      Nikalay aeb jo HAFIZ kay fun maen
              Lataatat us maen zarrabhar naheen hay
