Like a Dream
Love poem - dream or reality?

He stood alone in the shadows,
His slender form a silhouette.
Dark hair was speckled with gray now -
Hard to distinguish from the gentle flakes of snow.

With silent footsteps she approached him,
Breath held lest he hear and turn.
It was her one last chance, a final moment -
Until, like before, time tore him away from her.

He was her dream, the One in a Lifetime,
The One who always had gotten Away.
Yet she knew she had never had him -
Long before her, another had taken his heart astray.

In the still air she felt him turning,
And the moment was frozen in time.
Green eyes met blue ones and held there -
He saw her for the very first time.

Frozen in time, neither moved then -
A moment later he turned and was gone.
She looked on long after, smiling -
Like a melting snowflake, her Dream had faded once more.
