Nothing is forever.

Not even a mountain that reaches up to heaven, not even a burning star shining brightly in the sky. Not even mankind itself. How is happened, no one knows, and the only fact that remains is that this is the end.

Everything everywhere lie in ruins. Every building ever built, every tree that was planted, every hope shattered. There is nothing, nothing at all. There is no life, not even a stray bird or mammal to be found. They all lay dead, scattered around like torn up rag dolls tossed about. Dust drifted in the air with the ash, casting its smokey shadow upon the ground. The flames of the land burning touched the sky, a blazing stretch that lasted forever and caused the air itself to sweat. It painted the sky with brushed of flames, coloring the air with heat and fury.

Walking among it all, you would find windows to the past everywhere that would make your heart ache for the lost souls, for the one who's past you held in your hand. A photograph of a happy family posed for a Christmas picture, for maybe a diary that gave off the exaust of broken hopes and dreams into the air to float with the dust. It would make you wonder how things were ever normal, how anything could have ever been happy. How people would drive to work, and children would skip happily to school. You would wonder if it was only a dream, pinching yourself to try to to wake up from this lonely nightmare. Then, you would realize that it was all real. That there was nothing to be true anymore, only false hopes and grim truths.

You would wonder: is there even a God? How could there be, after all of this? How could he ever let something like this happen?

No material thing is forever, but hope is eternal. Like a beacon of distress, the hope of the lost was strong in the air, and those looking down from heaven could see it shining brightly. They hoped that their call would be answered, that the future would become an alternate past.

The sounds of the wind howling and the fire crackling are broken by the ever so small footsteps of a young girl. Her shining brown hair drifting down to her shoulders, her eyes big pools of deep sapphire. She wore a beautiful blue skirt which swung at her knees, and a beautiful gown hung to her waist, both the same color as her eyes. These shades defied everything around her, standing out lightning in the sky; it could be seen through the raging flames.

A small smile crossed the girl's face as she walked across the rubble. Nothing upsets her, this apocolypse does not make her sad. She is hope; she is hope's answer.

She steps right into the flames, giggling as the fire licks her skin. She feels no heat or discomfort, only pleasure and happiness. Then the crackling of the blaze and the howling of the empty wind stop, as if a mute button was pressed to make it inaudible. The girl closes her eyes and begins to sing her song, a beautiful melody carried all around the world. Her voice is like an angel, and she sings no words. Words are not needed to express what she feels; they are not needed to show how beautiful her voice is.

And as she sings, the wind slowly dies down, and the flames burn themselves away. The ruins and rubble slow fade away until a beautiful emerald field is revealed underneath, covering the entire surface of the earth. Trees and flowers begin to sprout once more in the fertile soil, the bees buzzing as they make their rounds. A dolphin jumps in the ocean, and a whale sings underneath the waves. Things gradually change as the girl sings, until there is nothing of The End left, and her melody dies away.

Now happiness hovers in the air, and nature is back to the way it was meant to be. The earth is reborn as new, only for it to begin dying again. And when this does happen, the girl will be back to sing again.

Nothing is forever.

But every end has a new beginning, and every beginning has an inevitable end.
