The Heavens
A poem about a simple man

The Heavens

The brightest star to cross the sky
was shining down that night,
those who saw him could not deny
the child of the light.

He was the savior of mankind,
foretold by those who knew,
true deliverer of God's love;
perfection through and through.

Now there are those who doubted him,
Jesus loved them anyway
and when he died upon the cross
he washed their sins away.

When put to death he rose again
to those who did believe,
three days hence he reappeared
in a robe of linen weave.

Tonight the stars look down on us
like diamonds in the night
and all his children share his love
for he is the guiding light.
