"You promised!" Amy sulked.
"I said, 'if it doesn't rain.' It's raining," Her father replied. "I hate promises with ifs." "There are always ifs, Amy." "Maybe it will stop." "It's too late to start out now." "Every time we make a plan something stops us. I hate the rain." "I'm sorry you're disappointed. I am, too." "I wanted to see the pandas and the elephants.” "So did I. Now let's not waste my visit. Let's do something else." "What else?" "Well we could go to the museum." "We went there already." "But there's a lot we didn't see." "The animals there are all dead," "Well, yes, but they're still interesting, aren't they?" "Not very. They don't move or anything," "If you were that close to a dinosaur, and it moved, would you like that?" Amy giggled. "No." "Me either. So how about it? The museum?" "I guess so." "We didn't get to see the pandas, but we get to see each other, " "Daddy, you're better than a whole cage full of pandas." "And you're better than a whole herd of elephants." They made a dash for the car through the rain. As her father was buckling her in Amy said, "It doesn't matter what we do if we do it together." "And that's the truth," her father agreed, 219 words
