Stand Down
A piece from my Confessions of a Depressionist poems

You were right
I knew you were
and my lies have all been selfish
and those lies have all but died
but the secrets are what I'm left with
I see your face, your trusting face
and the mask I forced upon it
It says you love and you forgive
but it reads "You fucked me and you know it!"
and I can't believe the deciet we weave
one word, one silk, one strand
you hurt me more, so I hurt you worse
and the hurt is all we have
but you got fucked and I got fucked
will it ever matter who got even
so I stood down, and you stood down
and the silence is what we're left with.
