                                              Ghazal 75


Persian:  Dosh aagahi zay yaar e safarkarda daad baad
              Man neez dil ba baad daham, her cheh baad baad
Urdu:      Laie payaam e yaar e safarkarda baad hay
              Roshan hoie hay chashm meri, qalb shaad hay

English:=== Go find, O breeze, my departed friend
                  And say a message O please do send
                                                -

Persian:  Dar cheen e turra e to dil e bayhifaaz e man
              Hergiz naguft maskan e maaloof yaad baad
Urdu:      Jab say muqeem e zulf bana baylihaaz dil
              Aaya na apna ghar usay ik din bhee yaad hay

English:=== My heart is a captive of her curly hair
                  And now for its home it does not care
                                                  -

Persian:  Dilkhush shudam ba yaad e to her geh keh dar chaman
              Band e qaba e ghuncha e gul meekushaad baad
Urdu:      Dil khush hua hay yaad say taeri keh der chaman
              Band e qaba e ghuncha e gul jo kushaad hay

English:=== When see I flowers with beauty and grace
                  Remind me they of her lovely face
                                                  -

Persian:  Tarf e kulah e shahiat aamad ba khatiram
              An ja keh taaj bar sar e nargis nihaad baad
Urdu:      Nargis kay sar pay taaj rakha daekh ker, bohat
              Tarf e kulah e yaar mujhay aaay yaad hay

English:=== When hyacinth does wave in the air
                  Reminded am I of her curly hair
                                                  -

Persian:  Kaaram badan raseed keh hamrah e khud kunam
              Her shaam burq e laama o her baamdaad baad
Urdu:      Hay kya ajeeb ishq, yeh kaisie hay dosti
              Tohfa hay aag is ka, fughaan is ki daad hay

English:=== Without her oh, how I cry and cry
                  I moan, and groan, and gasp, and sigh

Persian:  Az dast rafta bood wajood e zaeef e man
              Subham ba boo e wasl e to jaan baaz daad baad
Urdu:      Maeray tan e zaeef maen jaan us nay daal di
              Jab subhadam payaam tera laie baad hay     

English:=== Though the pain of parting is too much for me
                  The thought of her coming is a souce of glee

Persian:  Imrooz qadr e pand e azizan shanaakhtam
              Ya Rab rawaan e nasah e man az to shaad baad
Urdu:      Nikli haen dil say maeray duaaen hazaarha
              Aaie mujhay jo pand e azizan ki yaad hay

English:=== And when I think of my friends' advice
                  I find it precious and above any price
                                                  -

Persian:  Tareekh aesh ma shab e deedaar e dost bood
                Ahd e shabaab o sohbat e ahbaab yaad baad
Urdu:        Ahd e shabaab o sohbat e ahbaab sab hay yaad
                Yaad e shab e wisaal say dil maera shaad hay

English:=== And when I remember her days with me
                  My heart does become like a stormy sea
                                                  -

Persian:  Her shab hazaar gham ba man aamad zay ishq e to
              Ya Rab keh her damam gham e ishat zeyaad baad
Urdu:      Mujh ko diay haen ishq nay taeray hazaar gham
              Her gham tera karay teri ulfat ziyaad hay

English:=== Though pain of parting isn't easy to bear
                  I lose not hope and do not despair

Persian:  HAFIZ nihaad e naek e to kaamat beyaworad
              Jaanha fida e mardum e naekonihaad baad
Urdu:      HAFIZ nihaad e naek teri kaam aa gaie
              Haq ko aziz mardum e naekonihaad hay
