New Years Eve

New Years Eve was our beginning -
That was so many long years ago!
So long past it was seems another lifetime -
And it was well over half of mine.

New Years Eve is now again upon us -
So many things have so sadly changed.
Now instead of yearning for our beginning
I would give anything to find a way to make Us end.

Too many things have changed between us,
We have no common bonds anymore.
The love and passion that once claimed us
Has fallen still as dying grass beneath the snow.

We are in the Winters of our lives now,
Too late to change or start again.
The seasons pass and we remain together -
Married strangers to the bitter end.

New Years Eve will bring a new year to us -
If only it could bring us new love too.
Sadly the years of love have faded -
Now Winter lingers in our hearts all year through.
