                                            Ghazal 76


Persian:  Dar an hawa keh juz burq andar talab nabaashad
              Gar kharmanay basozad chandin ajab nabaashad
Urdu:      Juz burq kuchh bhee ander shouq o talab naheen hay
              Jal jaay is say kharman toe kuchh ajab naheen hay

English:=== You can't have love without the fire
                  And body and soul it consumes entire
                                                -

Persian:  Mughay keh baa gham e dil shud ultateesh hasil
              Bar shakhsaar e umrash barg e tarab nabaashad
Urdu:      Wo andaleeb jis ko gham say huie hay ulfat
              Bar shakh e umr us ki barg e tarab naheen hay

English:=== When you're in love, you can't complain
                  And you have nothing but sorrow and pain
                                                  -

Persian:  Dar kaarkhaana e ishq az kufr naguzir ast
              Aatish kira basozad gar Bulahab nabaashad
Urdu:      Bay kufr kab chala hay ulfat ka kaarkhaana
              Aatish kisay jalaay ger Bulahab naheen hay

English:=== There is no love without rejection
                  And hate is also part of affection

Persian:  Dar kaesh e jaanfarooshaan fazl o hunar nazaebad
              In ja nasab nagunjad, in ja hasab nabashaad
Urdu:      Jaanbaaz ko haen zaeba fazl o hunar na koie
              Koie Hasab naheen hay, koie nasab naheen hay

English:=== You need no power; you need no wealth
                  Love wants courage, not strength or health

Persian:  Dar mehfilay keh khurshid ander shumaar e zarrast
              Khud ra buzurg deedan shart e adab nabaashad
Urdu:      Jis anjuman maen anjum zarroun kay houn barabar
              Kerna gharoor wan per shart e adab naheen hay

                  You be not rude; and don't be curt

Persian:  May khur keh umr e sarmad gar dar jahan tawaan yaaft
              Juz baada e bahishti heechash sabab nabaashad
Urdu:      May pee keh is jahan maen bus umr e jawadaan ka
              Juz baada e bahishti kuchh aur sabab naheen hay

English:=== Can make you eternal no earthly wine
                  What you really need is the spirit divine

Persian:  HAFIZ wisaal e jaanaan baa chu to tangdastay
              Roozay shawad keh baa o paiwand e shab nabaashad
Urdu:      HAFIZ wisaal e jaanaan shayad ho roz e mehshaer
              Qismat maen taeri warna waslat ki shab naheen hay
