THE COLOR OF MY LOVE

My love for you was a kaleidoscope of many colors,
ever changing, a swirling mix of hopes and dreams.
The years have changed the gentle hues of my love,
the sunny yellows, the true blues, the envy greens.

I remember when your love lit up my life and
then the colors of love turned from Heaven-sent,
without any warning, with no hope for changing
back into the deep blue of love and being content.

The color of my love has faded, yet I remember a
bright glow of happiness when the colors were new.
A pity that love doesn't always last forever and ever.
My colors turned gray when I knew that I lost you.

Still I remain a believer in love with all it can bring
and the color of my love turns bright once more.
I'll open my heart to new hopes and new dreams
and see what colors life can have for me in store.
