In regards to: Resolutions

CONFIDENTIAL

Attention: Heart and Soul

Dear Me,
Subject: The letter "L"
Happy New Year! Yes, another year has come and gone and once again, we failed miserably in our unorganized attempts to keep our resolutions to me, our Heart and Soul. But that’s okay, I forgive you. After all, that’s what I do. But I have a suggestion for us this year. Instead of just listing a bunch of things we are hoping to accomplish, this year, we are going to do things a little differently. This year, I want me to concentrate on just one thing. My resolution for you (me) will be the letter “L”.
That’s right, just plain old, easy to remember, L. This year, we will:

Live more. Get out there and do the things that make us happy. Write more poetry. Take a train ride. Go and see someone we miss. Live the life and do the things that we want to do but just can’t seem to find the time for. If we live for others only, we are not really living at all.

Learn more. That’s right, get out there and learn how to do the things we have always wanted to do. Knowledge is the fruit of happiness, my friend. Take some poetry or creative writing classes. Learn something positive about someone we love and thought we knew. Then, learn something positive about someone we want to know. Most importantly, learn something positive about me (you). I know a good place to start. Pull that Bible off that book shelf and dust it off. God will tell us some really great things about us, my friend.

Laugh more. There is humor all around us. And laughter truly is the best medicine I know. Tell you what, if we need a good laugh, go to the nearest shelter and adopt a kitten. I don’t know anyone who can stay in a room with a kitten very long without laughing out loud. And the great thing about kittens is; they grow into something that we can love as well.

Look more. When was the last time we watched a sunset or a sunrise? This year will be a great year to look for a rainbow after a storm. Look for butterflies in the garden. Look for the beauty in this world that is all around us but we take for granted every single day. Stop and look, me. It is time we learned to slow down and appreciate all the things the Lord has made.

Finally,
Love more. Love those that are closest to us. They are the ones who depend on us to take care of our self. Love them because they love us and give us support. They need us to be there for them. Love them when they are sick. Love them when they are lonely. They need us to be strong and courageous when they can’t be. But also, Love yourself. If we love our self and take better care of us, we will be around for the ones we love for a long time.

Love those who are not so close to us. Love the people who are rude to us. Love those who cut us off in traffic or cut in line at the grocery store. Love them because Jesus loves them and because love is good for our soul.
These are just a few of the wonderful things we can do this year. Next year, who knows? Maybe we will work on the letter M.

Love,
