Dear Me,

  I want to become a better husband, and a better father this year. These are goals I will have to work at daily, but that I can accomplish.

  I know there is always room for improvement in those two areas of life, and I know what I can do to at least begin to accomplish those two goals.

  I will strive to be a better listener to my wife. I know there are times when she speaks to me, but I am not paying attention to her as I should. When she asks me a question from now on, I will try to be more aware of the fact that she is speaking to me, and I will try to answer her more readily.

  She is everything to me, and without her I would be totally lost. I will strive to reassure her daily of just how much she means to me.

  I will strive to become more proactive in my daughter's life this year so that I know what is going on with her at all times, and so that she knows I care about every aspect of her life, and about everything that happens to her. I will also strive to be more interactive with my daughter. This way she will also know she has a friend in her father.

  I will strive to bring my family closer together by showing them what it means to be a good family member. By leading with actions rather than words, my wife and daughter will know that they are loved, that they are cared for, that they are protected, and that are appreciated.

  I have some goals for outside of the family also. I am now the administrator of the A-1 Writing Academy. As such, one of my goals is to improve my writing enough to get a publisher for my work. I think as the administrator of the academy I feel that my writing needs to exemplify what the school stands for, excellence in writing.

  Another of my goals is to get instructors in place in every class. I don't just want instructors, I want the best instructors I can put in place. I also want to have the best lessons possible in place for our students. After a major problem last year, things are starting to shape up. It is my goal to have the academy operating sufficiently with minimal involvement on my part by the end of the year. It can be done.

  I believe I can accomplish these goals in 2008, and I will surely enjoy trying to do so, however; my most important goal is to draw closer to God, and to lead my family much more clearly in His ways. I can do this through faithful Bible study, and prayer.

  The only reason I can't accomplish my goals for this year is if I give up on them. I refuse to be a quitter, so I will attain. Actions speak louder than words, stick to it.
