Waking Dream
To my wife

One night many years ago
I fell into slumber
alone.

My dreams became magical
to glide through my barren
spirit.

In my mind’s reflective eye
was the face of my angel
so true.

Her hair was rich as
the skies’ moon silence.
Her body so grand
and such strength abound.

Her eyes mesmerizing
with the brilliance of stars.
Laughter of crystal
reminiscent of angels.

She harbored this smile
it spread sea to sea.
And when she touched me
my body would melt.

I dreamt of wholeness;
never again alone.

When I awoke in that fair morn,
Tears sprang forward.

For my dreams’ angel
lay sleeping beside.
