                                            Ghazal 92


Persian:  Sitaraay badarakhsheed o mah e majis shud
              Dil e rameeda e ma ra anis o moonis shud
Urdu:      Darakhshaan aek sitaara jo mah e majlis hay
              Dil e rameeda ka maeray anis o moonis hay

English:=== A star from Heaven came down to earth
                  In the Arabian desert he took his birth
                                                -

Persian:  Nigaar e mun keh ba maktab naraft o khat nanawisht
              Ba ghamza masala aamooz e sad mudarris shud
Urdu:      Parha na likhkha agar wo nigar hay toe kya
              Ba ghamza masala aamoz e sad mudarris hay

English:=== He couldn't read, and couldn't write
                  But teach he could the brightest of bright
                                                -

Persian:  Tarabsara e mohabbat kunun shawad maamour
              Keh taaq e abroo e yaar e munash mohandis shud
Urdu:      Tarabsara e mohabbat ki ho gaie taameer
              Jo taaq e abroo e jaanaan bana mohandis hay

English:=== An edifice great he built with skill
                  And a mission Divine he did fulfill

Persian:  Ba sadr e mastabaam meenishaand aknun yaar
              Gada e shehr nigeh kun keh mir e majlis shud
Urdu:      Hua hay yaar mera mehrbaan kuchh aisa
              Faqeer e shehr bana mujh sa mir e majlis hay

English:=== My love has made me so dignified
                  That over the topers I now preside

Persian:  Lab az tarashshah e may paak kun baraay Khuda
              Keh khatiram ba hazaaraan guneh mousos shud
Urdu:      Laboun say apnay Khuda ra too poench lay baada
              Keh dil mera ba hazaaraan guneh mousos hay

English:=== Oh, wipe not wine from your juicy lip
                  And give my lips a chance to sip

Persian:  Karishma e to sharaabay ba aashiqaan paimood
              Keh ilm baykhabar uftaad o aql bayhis shud
Urdu;      Sharaab e naaz o ada say haen mast yuin aashiq
              Keh baykhabar hay bohat ilm, aql bayhis hay

English:=== O please, my darling, do not flirt
                  Lest creed and logic your lovers desert
                                                  -

Persian:  Khayaal e aab e khizar bast o jaam e kaykhusro
              Ba juraanoushiay sultaan Abu Fawaris shud
Urdu:      Na kuchh hay aab e baqa aur na jaam e kaykhusro
              Keh pee kay juraa e may sheh Abu Fawaris hay

English:=== They'll eat, and drink, and dance, and sing
                  And become they'll the envy of the king

Persian:  Ba boo e o dil e beemaar e aashiqaan chu saba
              Fida e aariz e nasreen o chashm e nargis shud
Urdu:      Ba boo e yaar saba ki tarheh dil e aashiq
              Fida e aariz e nasreen o chashm e nargis hay

English:=== Their lovesick hearts will be ever more sick
                  They'll yell, and scream,and howl, and kick

Persian:  Do chashmat az dil o deen her cheh daashtam burdand
              Tawangaray keh ba mastaan nashist o muflis shud
Urdu:      Nigah e mast e butaan lotti hay deen o dil
              Karay yeh shah ko bhee aek pal maen muflis hay

English:=== They'll lose their faith, and belief, and creed
                  And advice and counsel they'll not heed

Persain:  Zay rah e maykada yaaraan inaan bagardaaneed
              Chira keh HAFIZ az in rah raft o muflis shud
Urdu:      Sharaabkhanay ki reh per na jao aey HAFIZ
              Keh jo bhee aaya wahaan say, wo baesh muflis hay
