I smile as Joanne complains about her day.
The light turns green and I hit the gas.
A blur to my right, bang, crunch.
The car shakes like an amusement ride.
I gasp for breath as the smoke clears.
My leg feels strange.
That stranger has taken a year from my life, yet I endure.
