death walks among us
it tugs on the edges of our soles and lingers in the dark of our minds it speaks with a whisper as it passes by and through and when it stops to visit we hear death walks among us with a bowed gloomy head a shadow marks its boundaries and follows every step ahead of it leads a graying mist and upon its footfalls echoes a broken bell death walks among us and slips in between our thoughts and passes in and out of focus it swells large in the evenings and shrinks in the morning underneath clouds and hides behind a grassy hill that has no sound
