                                            Ghazal 94


Persian:  Sahar bulbul hikaayat baa saba kard
              Keh ishq e gul ba ma deedi cheha kard
Urdu:      Karay bulbul shikaayaat e baja hay
              Zara daekho toe us ka haal kya hay

English:=== Said the singing bird to the morning breeze
                  That the love of flower is a terrible disease
                                                -

Persian:  Ghulam e himmat e an naazneenam
              Keh kaar e khair bay roo o riya kard
Urdu:      Maen banda us nigah e naazneen ka
              Karay naeki jo bay roo o riya hay

English:=== I deeply love and admire a beauty
                  Who does some good as a matter of duty
                                                  -

Persian:  Khushash bada naseem e subhegahi
              Keh dard e shabnasheenaan ra dawa kard
Urdu:      Rahay khush too naseem e subhagahi
              Keh dard e shabnasheenaan ki dawa hay

English:=== May God you bless, O morning breeze
                  You soothe my pain, and bring me ease

Persian:  Mun az baegaangaan hergiz nanaalam
              Keh baa mun her cheh kard an aashna kard
Urdu:      Naheen ghairoun say koie mujh ko shikwa
              Shikaayat hay agar, baa aashna hay

                  It's the friends who give me all my woes

Persian:  Az an rang o rukham khoun dar dil andaakht
              Az an gulshan ba kharam mubtila kard
Urdu:      Hua us rang e rukh say dil pur az khoun
              Kya khaaroun maen gul nay mubtila hay

                  Against the thorn one cannot complain

Persian:  Ba her soo bulbul e baidil dar afghaan
              Tanaam darmian baad e saba kard
Urdu:      Ba her soo bulbul e baidil ko naala
              Ba her gul shoakhian kerti saba hay

                  And everyone else is hearty and hale

Persian:  Gar az sultan tamae kardam khata bood
              War az dilbar wafa justam jafa kard
Urdu:      Ghalat hay naazneesnoun say tawaqqa
              Wafa mango ager, milti jafa hay

                  Whatever you get, you learn to savor

Persian:  Naqaab e gul kasheed az zulf e sunbul
              Agar band e qaba e ghuncha wa kard
Urdu:      Naqaab gul banay sunbul, saba jab
              Karay band e qaba e ghuncha wa hay

                  She uses her hair to hide her face

Persian:  Wafa az khawjgaan e shehr baa mun
              Kamaal e deen o daulat Bulwafa kard
Urdu:      Wafa ki mujh say sardaaroun maen jis nay
              Wo jaan e deen o daulat Bulwafa hay

                  A nicer person is difficult to find

Persian:  Bashaarat bar ba koo e mayfarooshaan
              Keh HAFIZ touba az roo o riya kard   
Urdu:      Bashaarat maykadoun maen doe keh HAFIZ
              Naheen kerta wo ab roo o riya hay
