the blue earthenware tea cup from China is empty
our tears have dried on its edges, they are lovely stains secrets told in smoke rings escape from behind closed shutters I hear a stranger's words, I imagine your face lit with joy oh you've smiled discreetly, like a fugitive dream at midnight imprisoned, forgotten until a faraway day of judgment in the morning I hope to find raindrops still on the window and to remember the laughter I heard just before waking for all lovers of poetry and Chopin [2008.22.1…a]
