COME THE MORNING

For Monty and Kitty, with love and prayers.

In the gentle morning hours before dawn,
I awake to the sound of an angel's song
and I fight back tears as I hold you tight;
you just cannot leave my arms tonight.

Come the morning of another long day,
I hold your hand and kiss tears away.
God knows and hears my every prayer
and gives us both the courage to share.

Without you I would be lost and torn,
wishing not to face yet another morn.
All the trust and love you have for me,
I would be truly blind if I couldn't see.

Your eyes speak words of deep dismay
as the pain you are in won't go away
and you ask God above for release,
to let the sound of your suffering cease.

In the gentle morning hours before dawn,
one day I will awake and find you gone.
Your spirit will give me strength to bear
the cross, knowing how much you care.

Come the morning of another long day,
Come the mourning.
