There You Are
A mother asks where the time went during which her children grew up

Where has my baby gone?
The one that used to sleep so sound
You know the one I speak of
With cheeks all rosy and round

Where has my toddler gone?
The one that splashed in the pool out back
You know the one I speak of
Could barely reach the towel on the rack

Where has my little child gone?
The one that held my hand as we walked
You know the one I speak of
Who loved to sing instead of talk

Where are my little ones?
Can it be that you are they?
You know the ones I speak of
How can it be this way?

Why, just last week we brought you home
All soft and pink and new
You know what I am talking about
You remember?  Wasn’t that you?

Just yesterday, it seems, you took a step
And now, see how you run!
The years have passed too quickly
But every moment was fun

There you are, my dear ones
You’re all a dream come true
Each time I look into your eyes
I remember days with you
