the night stretches its darkness towards my impatient soul
star and moonlight are hidden behind the intentions of dreams no, there will be no rain to rock my slumber in comfort the blackness behind my closed eyelids flutters into red spots which become colorful wishes defining my hope for tomorrow the wind whirls in the chimney, knocks branches against the shutters it is not my life I see in these moments of calm, though a pale reflection seems to caress the image I hold of myself in languid kisses I cannot share with a start, I awake, the outdoor turbulence is palpable in my bedchamber Morpheus comes again for me, in his silent arms I may writhe, or weep he cares only for sentimental outpourings, secrets he gathers quietly I will not awake with the glimmering hope of daylight, sleep is my addiction this slumber is a prelude for death, my soul entwines itself in eternal longing its messages are a labyrinth of wandering, the path to mend a broken heart the glimmering hope of daylight [2008.29.1...a]
