Verse 1:
Why should my heart in pain and sorrow grieve? Why should I let affliction wound my soul? Why should I anger at the mocking crowds who don't believe Or waver as I strive to reach my goal? Verse 2: I know the Lord has strengthened me with might And healed me 'neath the Spirit's calming wings. I know he hears my cry by day and visits me by night. With gratitude and confidence, I sing: Chorus: Awake, my soul! No longer droop in sin. Rejoice, my heart, and rise up from the dust. Though enemies encompass me, through righteousness I'll win. I know it's Christ the Lord in whom I trust. Publish/contest records: 2008 Church Music Submission, Hymn Text Special Recognition
